The Boat Show Gate Sends You Back to Your Car. The Water Door Is a Phone Call.
The boat show gate can’t sell you a ticket, and the show docks can’t take your boat. Twenty years on the water in South Florida taught me where the real doors are. Here’s how to get to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show without getting sent back to your car.
Call or text the host: (954) 519-56382026 show facts: Oct 28–Nov 1, 2026 · 1-day ticket $48 (Thu–Sun) · preview day $73 · tickets online only, no box office · free shuttle and golf carts with a ticket · water taxi $15/day or $65 for 5 days · parking $20/day at the Convention Center · check flibs.com for the veteran ticket day · flibs.com
🚧 Why the gate sends you back to your car
Tickets are online only. There’s no box office at the gate. If you walk up ready to pay cash, they point you back to your car and back to the website.
That’s the part that feels broken. The boats are right there. The person at the rope can’t sell you a ticket, can’t walk you to a booth, and can’t tell you which company owns the answer. The show runs the show. The marinas hold the water. Security is a third operation. Three doors, and none of them are talking to each other.
So buy the ticket before you get out of the car. In the parking lot on your phone, if you have to. The rope can’t help you.
⚓ Can you take your own boat to the boat show?
No. Personal boats can’t dock at the show. That’s straight from the FLIBS FAQ, and it’s the part people get wrong. You can’t just pull up, tie off and walk in. Grab a random slip and security can ask you to move or leave. There’s no invisible free pass.
Here’s what actually works if you’re coming by water:
- Book a slip early at a nearby marina or private dock. Show week fills up fast. That slip is its own reservation with its own tab.
- Buy your show ticket online at flibs.com before you leave the dock.
- Get from your slip to the show. Take the water taxi ($15/day, or $65 for 5 days), or arrange a Taylor Marine call-ahead pickup from space that’s already arranged.
Straight up: a pickup is a ride. It’s not a show ticket and it’s not a docking pass. The show’s door is still the show’s.
🛺 Getting between the sites
The show is spread across more than one site. Your ticket covers the free shuttle and the golf carts between them. The water taxi is separate: $15/day or $65 for 5 days. Driving in? Parking at the Convention Center is $20/day.
Maps, shuttle stops and schedules change, so check flibs.com the morning you go.
📲 How a call-ahead pickup works
- Message before you leave the dock. Tell me where you’re slipped, how many people, and when you want to arrive.
- I confirm the pickup point and the time. If it isn’t confirmed, don’t count on it.
- We meet you there. From that point it’s the golf cart or the Sprinter, in and out, and I’m live so you can see the room before you commit.
- You walk in with your own ticket. The pickup gets you there. The ticket gets you in.
That’s a scheduled pickup from space that’s already arranged. It’s not a free ticket, and it’s not an invitation to dock anywhere. Message first. Don’t tie up and then ask.

This split is why Taylor Marine sits where it sits. Twenty years on the marina side, then the hospitality side, because the public and the businesses on the water were never given the same door. The roads are built to slow that trip down. The cart and the van are how we keep it moving.
If you want the show, buy the ticket at flibs.com. If you want the water side handled, message before you cast off. And if the boat itself needs work before show week, that’s the Taylor Marine Techs side of the house.
